Review Policy and Other Info

I am always happy to consider reviewing a book here on Ryann the Reader. All I ask in return is that you read the following, because asking me to review any book assumes you have read and agree to these terms:

First and foremost, please use the contact information at the bottom of this page to request a review. The comment section is a place for discussion, not review requests.

What I Read:

While I am always trying to expand my literary horizons, there are a few genres that are my go-tos when on the hunt for new books. These include:

  • Fantasy/Sci-fi
  • Young Adult Fiction
  • Dystopian Fiction
  • Historical Fiction
  • Poetry

I do accept self-published books for review. In your request, please make a note that the book is self-published.

While these genres are my favorites, I may also accept others for review on my blog.

What I Won’t (Usually) Read:

This list is not set in stone; you are welcome to ask me to review any genre. This list is mostly so that those requesting reviews know which books I am most likely to accept, and can decide whether or not to look for another reviewer. That being said, the genres I will usually turn down include:

  • Romance/Erotica
  • Horror
  • Nonfiction

Accepted Formats:

Print format is my most preferred, but I will accept e-books in any format compatible with Kindle, iPad, or Android devices, however, I do not accept audiobooks at this time.

Miscellaneous Information

All of my reviews will be honest. If I dislike a book, I will write a review that respectfully, but specifically, details what about the book I did not like and where it could use improvement. Even if I did not like a book, I will still point out its positive aspects, but, on the whole, the review may still be negative.

In all reviews, I will indicate how I got access to the book, whether it was via the publisher, the author, Netgalley, or a book distributor, near the top of the review.

When I receive an advanced copy of a book for review, I will post my review one month before the publication date. If something comes up, and I feel I am unable to do so, I will contact the sender to work out a solution.

After I read and review books, they are either donated or given away, unless I purchased them for myself from book distributors such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

The best way to contact me is through my contact page on this site, or by contacting me at

I will respond to all review requests, regardless of whether or not I am interested.
