The Unique Blogger Award!

Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you’re all having a great start to your week!

I’m definitely having a great Monday because the incredible Kiersten @ Once Upon a  Spine (seriously, I love her blog name!) nominated me for the Unique Blogger Award! You should all check out her awesome blog!

Let’s get started!

The Rules:

  1. Share the link of the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer their questions
  3. Share some love with the blogging community by nominating 8-12 people
  4. Ask three questions for your nominees

Kiersten’s Questions:

What’s the strangest book you ever read? (Be specific. What made it strange?)

The strangest book I’ve ever read is easily White is for Witching by Helen Oyeyemi. Despite its strangeness, it still holds its spot on my “Favorite Books” shelf.

This was my first experience reading a sort of gothic novel, and I LOVED IT!! The story is about Miranda Silver, who develops an eating disorder called pica. The story details her struggles with the “curse” (as all the women in her family have had the same disorder).

Despite it being her story, we never actually hear from her; the story is told from three different point of views. The first section is told by her brother, Eliot; the second section is told by her lover, Ore; and both sections have interruptions from Miranda’s CHILDHOOD HOME! That’s right, the house is a narrator in this book, and brings in a lot of the gothic paranormal elements that pervade the story.

It can be a bit of a heavy read, but it touches on a lot of important topics: eating disorders, sexuality, and the effects of immigrating from a different culture. If you enjoy kind of dark, strange reads, I’d definitely recommend it!

Which character from Alice in Wonderland are you?

Confession: I’ve never actually read Alice in Wonderland, and I’ve only seen parts of the movie, a long time ago.

So, I took this quiz and this was my result:

Alice in Wonderland Character

If you could resurrect any dead book character, who would it be?

Generally, I’m not big on bringing characters back because I think it cheapens whatever sacrifice they made in that moment *cough Amren cough*

But if I had to pick someone, I would pick Nehemia from Crown of Midnight. She was just such a lovely person who was feminine and tough and I just wanted to see her as the head of her country and all the things she could’ve accomplished.

My Nominations:

I want to get to know some of my new followers, so I’m going to nominate some awesome people who recently started following me!

Emma @ cornreviewsbooks | Maddie @ Munch Reviews | Justine @ Bookish Wisps | Jess and Teagan @ Fiction No Chaser

No pressure to actually do a post, just know I think you guys are awesome people with awesome blogs! Everyone should definitely check them out!

My Questions:

  1. Give yourself some love! If you’re comfortable with it, share your favorite picture of yourself, or tell me the thing you love most about you!
  2. We’re about half-way through 2018, so what have been your favorite and least favorite reads of the year so far?
  3. What was the last show and/or book series you binged?

Thanks for reading!

What about you? What’s the strangest book you’ve ever read (and would you recommend it)? Should I be ashamed of not having read Alice in Wonderland? And which dead character would you resurrect? Let me know in the comments below!
