Top 5 Tuesday- My Dream Reading Spaces

Hello to all you amazing people! It’s Tuesday, which means today there’s a special at one of my favorite pizza shops! ;P But more importantly, it’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday post, hosted by the amazing Shanah @ Bionic BookwormToday’s Top 5 Topic is “Dream Reading Spaces,” aka learning how all-over-the-place Ryann’s tastes are! Seriously guys, my style preferences are all over the place. One minute I want a reading space that’s dark and heavy and cut off from the rest of the world, the next, I want a space that’s bright and as close to outside as possible.

But I have been so excited for this topic, so let’s get to it!

This one looks like it belongs in a hobbit hole or in Mr. Tumnus’s cave, so of course I love it! I like all the wood and natural materials with that touch of iron, and I like that it’s so dark because it becomes my space. Like I won’t be distracted by things going on outside or in the rest of the house, it would just be me and whatever book I’m reading at that moment. Though I would add a big, cushy chair, or maybe even a daybed.

So, I know this one is light and bright and (aside from the wood and columns) almost completely different from the first one, but I still love it. Where the first one makes me feel cozy and isolated, this one would make me feel relaxed and lounge-y (?). I could probably spend all day in a room like this! (Also, I love the ships on the shelves.)

So, it should come as no surprise that I’m a big fantasy reader. So I looove the idea of a room like this where it’s very connected to the outdoors. Like I could read about Lothlorien from the coziness of my very own tree house. Or tree-room, I guess. Plus, sometimes a long read can give me a headache, and it helps to take a five-minute break to look outside and appreciate nature.

In this room, I love the color of the floors and the furniture in the room. I also like shelves and cupboards that are lighter than natural wood, but aren’t just white. And I like the idea of being surrounded by books in my work space for inspiration, and so I can bribe/threaten myself with “You can’t read that book until you finish this thing!” While I do like this room, I would really only try to replicate if this was a space I knew would be seen. Like, the other rooms would be spaces just for me that would be kind of hidden away, but if my house were very open, and people would see my reading room, I’d do something like this. Also, I WANT A LADDER!!

A TWO STORY LIBRARY!! Need I say more?! But again, I love the wood, and I like to think those doors lead out to a beautiful balcony. I love that it has space to read and space to work, and I just like its clean but still kind of old/traditional look. I would love to work at that desk and be completely surrounded by my books, or even to just walk in and flop into one of those chairs with a book!

If you need more reading rooms, I have a dedicated Pinterest board here!

That’s it for this week’s Top 5 Tuesday! Thanks for reading, and don’t forget to check out Shanah’s Top 5 post!
