Liebster Award #2

Hi guys! I was tagged by Sydney @ Scripturient for this award! Sydney runs an awesome blog, you guys should definitely check it out! And she asked some pretty awesome questions, so I’m excited to start this award!

Let’s get to it!

The Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Answer their 11 questions.
3. Nominate 11 blogs.
4. Give them 11 questions to answer.

Sydney’s Questions:

What are you currently reading?

Girls Made of Snow and Glass, and A Wrinkle in Time. Both are part of my reading list for #TheReadingQuest, but I’ll probably only write a review for Girls Made of Snow and Glass.

What is the top book on your TBR?

Oh my gosh, there are so many!! But the book I’m going to read next is Rebel of the Sands. My friend Tricia recommended it for me, and it’s also on my TBR for #TheReadingQuest

How do you organize your books?

Oh man, it’s kind of complicated. I doubt anyone but me could actually find the book they’re looking for. I have a Tolkien/C.S. Lewis shelf. Then I have a “recent favorites” shelf. These are my current faves, occupied by Throne of Glass series, Ember in the Ashes books, The Kingkiller Chronicles, and Six of Crows. After that, I have two physical TBR shelves, one is TBR IMMEDIATELY, the other is tbr whenever I get around to it. After that, they’re organized by age group/genre. Children’s books on one shelf, then YA, then Adult, with Classics and Poetry lumped together. From left to right in each age group, it goes Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Historical Fiction, Dystopian novels, then Mysteries. My lanta, it was exhausting just to type that!

What is your favorite book cover?

Why would you make me choose?! I’m going to pick three:

I like the first to because they’re very simple, but so so pretty! And I love my copy of A Wrinkle in Time because it just seems to better embody what the story is.

Name your favorite book-to-movie adaptation.

Now, I know this probably comes as a HUGE surprise to my long-time followers, but my favorite conversion is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Seriously, most of that movie is taken word-for-word from the book. (Which also begs the question: HOW COULD THEY RUIN The Voyage of the Dawn Treader SO BADLY?!?)

How do you come up with creative new post ideas?

For me, most of it is from eavesdropping conversations I have with people. My dad and some of my good friends are bookworms, so I turn conversations we have into discussion posts. And other times I steal them I just pay attention to what other bloggers are doing. If I see another blogger write a post that I think is interesting, I’ll copy them (always with credit to them). Or if something sparks a longer conversation, either in my comment section or someone else’s, I know that would be a great topic to discuss myself. And then sometimes they’re just things I want to rant talk about.

What do you use as a bookmark?

Up till recently, and sometimes even still, nothing. I just remember the page number I’m on and flip back to it when I’m ready to start reading again. But I also have two really nice metal bookmarks and a few magnetic ones I like to use.

Where do you see your blog in five years?

Honestly, pretty much doing what I’m already doing, (honest reviews, bookish conversations, and just being me!) only with me being better at it!

What is your favorite book you’ve read this year?

I know I was a little late to the party, but Six of Crows was just as good as everyone said it would be! I can’t wait to finish Crooked Kingdom! (Unless of course my precious Kaz/Inej/Nina/Matthias/Jesper/Wylan get hurt!)

Paperback or hardcover?

Usually hardcover. I’d like to say it’s for the aesthetics, but really, I just feel better knowing the book itself is protected by a slightly heftier cover.

Who inspired you to start your book blog?

I guess some of my professors and classmates? In college, I’d had to create a blog for several classes, and, because of my major, there was always someone around to talk to about books. When it came time to graduate, I wasn’t ready to give up either, so I merged them and created Ryann the Reader!

I Tag You

I’m going to take the lazy route (which I usually hate to do, but I have so many tags/awards to get to!) and say if you want to do this one, then you’re nominated!

New Questions:

  1. Do you have a “comfort book;” a book you reread when you need a pick-me-up?
  2. If you could gain the skills of any character, which one would you choose and why?
  3. Do you have any bloggers (bookish or otherwise) that you really look up to?
  4. What’s your favorite comfort food?
  5. What’s your favorite thing about your best friend?
  6. Tell me about your dream house!
  7. Who in your life has had the biggest impact on your love of books?
  8. Do you prefer books that make you laugh, or books that make you cry?
  9. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever read/given/received?
  10. What, other than books/blogging, are you passionate about?
  11. If everyone you met from now on could instantly know one thing about you, what would you want them to know and why?

Thanks for reading!

    • Oh I am! I’m only, like, half-way through it, but I’m pretty sure it’s already becoming one of my comfort books!

I hadn’t realized it was part of a larger series until I saw this huge family tree in the front of my book, so it just made me even more excited to read more of her books! I’m excited to see how the movie comes out, too!

      • It’s such a comfort book! And yes, I think there are three books directly in this series, but then there are others from her family and then L’Engle’s other series about Vicky Austin actually ends up combining with Meg’s and it’s so exciting.
